S5 Economics Students Explore the HKMA Information Centre

日期: 02/07/2026

On 2nd July 2026, our S5 Economics students participated in an enriching experiential learning visit to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) Information Centre. This visit provided our students with a unique, firsthand look into the vital inner workings of Hong Kong’s financial core.

During an insightful guided tour, the students explored the historical development of money and banking in Hong Kong, while also diving into the crucial regulatory measures the HKMA deploys to ensure the sound operation of banks and safeguard the financial system against economic shocks. Beyond macroeconomics, the tour offered a fascinating look at local currency, detailing the intricate designs, advanced security features, and production processes behind Hong Kong’s banknotes and coins.

This experience served as an excellent opportunity for our students to connect abstract economic theories from their textbooks directly to real-world applications. By gaining a deeper understanding of how stable monetary and banking systems protect our economic security, our students have not only enhanced their learning outcomes but also ignited a stronger passion for the subject of Economics.
