Chinese & English Reading Week: Read to Live, Live to Read
Date: 06/03/2026
Our school recently transformed into a literary haven during the highly anticipated Chinese & English Reading Week. This vibrant event aimed to ignite a passion for reading across both languages through a diverse range of activities.
The week kicked off with a Book Fair, featuring the English Reading Treasure Hunt, challenging students to find clues hidden within book covers and teachers’ personal recommendations. Meanwhile, art met literature as students collected beautifully designed Chinese ex libris to personalise their own collections. There was also a thought-provoking reading panel discussion, during which our Chinese teachers guided keen readers to understand a famous historical fiction, proving that a good book is always worth a conversation. During morning assemblies, our teachers and students took the stage for book presentations, offering compelling snapshots of their favourite reads.
The week’s excitement peaked with highly anticipated guest talks in both Chinese and English. On 3rd March, Professor Collier Nogues from CUHK shared the enjoyment of discovering poetry in everyday life. This was followed by an interactive Inter-House Trivia, testing students’ knowledge of our school, our country, UN SDGs, and of course, reading! On 6th March, Hong Kong writer Ms. Yau Yan Ni shared the profound impact of literature personal growth. Her lively metaphors about life and writing brought out important life lessons that the audience would savour for a long time!
