From 16th to 17th May 2025, our S5 students participated in a Mainland study tour focused on cultural heritage and innovation in the regions of Nansha and Qianhai. This two-day trip offered invaluable opportunities for students to immerse themselves in the rich history and modern advancements of these areas.
The programme commenced with a visit to the Guangdong Science Centre, where students engaged with interactive exhibits that highlighted scientific discoveries and technological innovations. Following this, they explored the historic Whampoa Military Academy, gaining insights into its significance in Chinese military education and national history.
Next, the tour took them to Yongqingfang, a vibrant cultural district known for its traditional architecture and local craftsmanship, allowing students to appreciate the blend of heritage and modernity. Finally, they visited the Nanshan Museum, where they learned about the local culture and history through a variety of exhibits.
Throughout the tour, students interacted with local historians and experts, inspiring them to further explore the connection between culture and innovation. The Nansha and Qianhai Study Tour was an enriching experience that deepened our S5 students’ understanding of their cultural roots and fostered a greater appreciation for their national identity.
