Student-led Service Activities

Date: 12/03/2018

This year, a service scheme is jointly organised by the Other Learning Experiences Team and Martha Boss Lutheran Community Centre. Under this scheme, a group of 20 students from S4 and S5 formed a team called “Lightning 20” and designed a 4-week tutoring programme for children in Cheung Sha Wan. Besides offering homework supervision, they organised group games for these children during break time. Through this activity, students were empowered to initiate ideas, make plans and take actions. They took the initiative to decide their service targets and the entire service content. Best of all, they have established friendship with service recipients and learnt to care for the community.

Besides, the students also visited senior citizens living in Homantin. Before the visit, students made some festive Chinese New Year decorations for the elderly using red packets. During the visit, the elderly enjoyed playing card games and drawing watercolour paintings with our students. They also shared their family stories and life experiences with us too.
