Turning Food Surplus into Support: Our Students Champion Sustainability and Community Care
Date: 26/10/2026
In the evening, a dedicated group of students from S3 to S5 visited a local market to collect surplus fresh fruits and vegetables that would otherwise have been discarded. By meticulously sorting and preparing these items, the students then personally distributed the nutritious food to individuals in need within our community. This hands-on experience allowed our students to transform potential waste into a vital resource for those facing food insecurity, bridging the gap between surplus and scarcity.
Beyond the practical tasks, our students felt a deep sense of fulfillment and joy from the gratitude expressed by those they served. They learned that true leadership is rooted in service and humility, ultimately recognizing that natural resources are finite and must be treated with the utmost respect.
This initiative perfectly encapsulates our school’s commitment to the EDB’s priority values: ‘Benevolence’ and ‘Commitment’, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs). Through their hard work, they demonstrated that sustainable living and social equity go hand-in-hand, embodying the very essence of our school’s major concern to nurture positive leaders for wider communities.
